Hipcamp, the world’s largest provider of outdoor stays, is coming to the UK and is looking for a star candidate for its Best UK Summer Job position, and anyone can apply. Read on to find out more.
The company, which counts celebrity Jay Z as an investor, is on the hunt for a Brit with a passion for exploring the great outdoors to camp and glamp the length and breadth of the country, discovering, reviewing and sharing some of Hipcamp’s most unique and beautiful UK stays.
The winning candidate will receive a summer salary of £15,000, a daily stipend, as well as complimentary stays at 15 of Hipcamp’s best camping and glamping sites for the duration of the 30-day journey.
Hipcamp CEO Alyssa Ravasio says: “It’s no secret that since the pandemic, more Brits than ever are choosing to holiday at home rather than travel abroad. Our launch in the UK allows us to get more Brits enjoying the best outdoor stays on their doorstep, and to mark this exciting moment, we’re giving one lucky winner to experience the best the UK has to offer, completely on us!”
How does the competition work?
Starting today, May 17, 2022, any adult UK resident can apply for the role with a 90-second or less video here.
It’s then over to the British public to vote for their favourite.
The top 6 entries (based on votes, creativity, and technical ability), will be announced as contest finalists on July 5, 2022. All finalists will be encouraged to further push for votes and appear in local media to encourage their hometowns to vote for their entry online before voting for finalists officially closes July 19, 2022.
The winner will be announced on July 26, 2022, and they’ll begin their UK travels on Aug. 1, 2022.

Hipcamp will choose a winning candidate from the finalists based on an interview, along with the following criteria:
- 40% creativity
- 40% technical/on-camera ability
- 20% votes
